Learn and practice 4 test-taking strategies that can be applied on several TExES certification exams

In this interactive online session, you will learn and practice 4 test-taking strategies designed to help you better identify key words and phrases in order to more successfully and confidently select the correct answers. The strategies apply to questions found on several TExES exams that are focused on instructional strategies, assessment methods, and professional responsibilities.

Participants will:

• gain an understanding of the "perfect world" that exists on TExES exams
• learn strategies to better identify key words and phrases in questions
• learn strategies to decode the language of answer choices
• learn strategies to better eliminate answer choices
• apply strategies to practice questions designed for a variety of TExES exams

Gain an understanding of English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and appropriate linguistic supports for each proficiency level.

Questions about supporting English Learners (ELs) and Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) in the classroom show up on several TExES exams, including Core Subjects, PPR, and (of course) the ESL Supplemental.

In this interactive online course, participants will gain an understanding of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and appropriate linguistic supports for ELs and EBs at each proficiency level in order to be better informed when selecting answer choices on TExES exams.

Participants will:

• gain an understanding of the "perfect world" represented on certification exams and how that impacts instruction of English Learners (ELs) and Emergent Bilingual students (EBs) in the classroom scenarios
• gain an understanding of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
• discuss appropriate linguistic supports for ELs and EBs at each proficiency level
• determine a student's proficiency level based on sample work
• apply this learning to several practice questions
